After you’ve discovered where your ancestors are from, we’ll call on the churches and the local “ayuntamientos” to recover as many of your ancestor’s documents as possible. We then reach out to old timers in the town who may know persons related to your ancestors. Perhaps a first cousin, maybe an aunt of uncle, or the spouse of an aunt or uncle. Small towns in Spain are still small and full of gossip. There are records everywhere except on line, but we dig deep to find them.
Once we know who they are and search for hidden relatives, we then research the sentiment at that period of time in that town. We research the local hangouts of the time, the dance halls, the schools, the coffee shops and bring it all to life. Yes, we bring it to life.
We work with our local college history professors who prepare a scripted sentiment of the time and who brings townspeople in to help reenact the era. Perhaps we have a stop at the sheep herder of the time who tells us a bit about how your ancestor was connected with him and the importance of sheep herding at the time. He will invite us into his home to have goat’s cheese and wine as your children help herd the sheep. Maybe there is a “guita” playing in the background and your ancestor played the “guita”. We bring to life the music of the time and maybe the “guitero” can show you a few cords. We follow the route your ancestor followed to and from work and to and from those favorite places, each staged with people who can help you live your ancestry.
So, after you’re done with 23&me and Ancestry.com, come to use to live the experience that will help you understand why you are the way you are. Our living tours will give you a chance to step back from day-to-day life and find yourself in your ancestry.
